불가사의를 구하시오 SOLVE THE ENIGMA | May 2024 | Performance Art | 40min | NYC
불가사의를 구하시오 is the second iteration of my ongoing existentialism research series. In this practice, I navigate a lucid dreamscape to reintegrate my fragmented identities. By using Korean with a non-Korean speaking audience, I challenge them to let go of logical communication and adopt spiritual insight as a universal language. Guided by the audience's curiosity, they physically move with me to travel through portals which are site-specifically designed as gateways to a surreal environment. On this journey, they gain new perspectives, experiencing the repetition of my dreams through multiple lenses of ever-morphing multimedia. Pre-recorded video projections interconnect with metaphorical installation arts (umbilical cords, moss) and acting multiple identities using masks. Through these elements, I transcend the exposed information in my performance space, melting boundaries of physical “reality” within my performance space and relationship between “performer” and “audience”.
